Privacy Policy

Last updated: 29 September 2026

This policy explains what personal information Simply Chic Weddings collects when you visit our website or get in touch with us, how we use it, and the rights you have over it. We are a small business and we only collect what we need to help plan and dress your wedding or event.

Who we are

Simply Chic Weddings is the “data controller” for the personal information described in this policy. This means we decide how it is used and are responsible for looking after it under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Visiting our website

You can browse this website without telling us who you are.

  • No cookies. Our website does not set any cookies, so there is no cookie banner to accept.
  • No analytics or tracking. We do not use Google Analytics or any other tool that tracks your visit, and we do not show adverts.
  • No third-party content. Our fonts and images are served from our own website, so visiting a page does not send your details to other companies.

Like almost every website, our hosting provider may automatically record basic technical information when pages are requested, such as your IP address, browser type and the time of the request. This is used only to keep the website secure and working properly, and these logs are deleted automatically after a short period.

Information you give us

When you contact us by email, telephone or through social media, or when you book with us, we may collect:

  • your name and the name of your partner;
  • your contact details, such as email address, telephone number and postal address;
  • details of your wedding or event, such as the date, venue, colour scheme and the items you would like to hire;
  • booking, invoice and payment records if you go ahead with a booking;
  • anything else you choose to tell us in your messages.

Please don’t send us sensitive information we haven’t asked for, and never send full bank card details by email or social media.

How we use your information

Data protection law requires us to have a “lawful basis” for each way we use your information. We use it to:

  • Answer your enquiry and send you prices or a quote, because you have asked us to before entering into a contract, or because we have a legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us.
  • Provide the service you have booked, including delivering, setting up and collecting hire items and liaising with your venue. This is necessary to carry out our contract with you.
  • Keep accounts and tax records, because the law requires us to.
  • Send you occasional news or offers, but only if you have asked us to. We do not currently send a newsletter, and we will never add you to a mailing list without your consent. You can withdraw consent at any time.

We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for automated decision-making or profiling.

Who we share it with

We only share your information when we need to, and only as much as is necessary:

  • Your venue, so we can arrange access for delivery, set-up and collection.
  • Services that help us run our business, such as our email provider and our accountant. They may only use your information to provide their service to us.
  • Authorities such as HMRC, where the law requires it.

Some of these services may store information outside the UK. Where this happens, we make sure appropriate safeguards required by UK data protection law are in place.

Photos and testimonials

We love to photograph our set-ups to show future couples what we can do, and we share some of these on our website, Facebook and Instagram. These photos focus on the room and our decor. We will not publish a photo in which you or your guests can be recognised without your permission.

If you send us a review or thank-you message, we will only publish it as a testimonial with your agreement, using first names only.

If you would like a photo or testimonial removed, just let us know and we will take it down.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries that don’t lead to a booking: up to 12 months, in case you get back in touch.
  • Booking, invoice and payment records: six years after the end of the financial year they relate to, as required by tax law.
  • Consent to marketing: until you withdraw it.

After this, we securely delete or destroy your information.

Keeping it safe

We use password-protected devices and accounts and trusted service providers to protect your information, and only we have access to it. Our website is served over a secure (HTTPS) connection. No method of sending or storing information is completely secure, so if you have any concerns about sending something to us, please give us a call.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • access the personal information we hold about you and receive a copy of it;
  • ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
  • ask us to delete your information;
  • ask us to restrict how we use your information;
  • object to us using your information, including for marketing;
  • ask us to transfer your information to you or another organisation;
  • withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent.

Some of these rights have exceptions. For example, we may need to keep financial records for tax purposes. To make a request, email sarah@simplychicweddings.co.uk. There is no charge, and we will respond within one month.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please contact us first and we will do our best to put things right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK’s data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.

Other websites and social media

Our website links to our Facebook (opens in a new tab) and Instagram (opens in a new tab) pages. If you follow these links, or message us through them, Meta’s privacy policy applies to what those platforms collect. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of other websites.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example if we change how we work or the law changes. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated at the top.
